About me and Celebrate Cakes in Helmsley

WELCOME

Welcome to Celebrate! Country Cake Design, based in the picturesque market town of Helmsley close to the sweeping moorlands of North Yorkshire. The business was established in 2008 by Rhian Crusher, a professional baker with more than 20 years experience in baking and decorating cakes, and whose inspiration and expertise has led to us getting the accolade of being the leading Wedding Cake maker in the area.

We love to make individual creations that are specifically designed for that special person in your life. If you can think it up we can make it, from five-tier wedding cakes to Buzz Lightyear and Beyond – a cake perfect for a baby’s Christening, a London Wedding or a 99th Birthday party.

ALL ABOUT ME

As a Welsh girl, I was brought up on a farm on the West coast near Aberystwyth, surrounded by beef cattle, sheep and Welsh Cob horses. Together with my two sisters, I spent the summers showing ponies and as a teenager I began showing Jacob Sheep very successfully. I have always baked, first on the farm, then later when I studied catering at college before undertaking a three year City and Guilds bakery course in Cardiff.

My passion lies in cake decorating so, while working for a small craft bakery, I took the opportunity to take a further course studying Advanced Sugarcraft for two years (City and Guilds 790). Around this time I began to enter Bakery and Sugarcraft exhibitions, earning several awards. I was Cardiffs Renshaw cup winner in 1990 and was also a finalist in the British Bakers Baking Industry Awards Student Baker of the Year in 1991.

Bakeries and Sugarcraft companies beckoned after college, where I gained invaluable experience. I then had the amazing opportunity to work for a small family bakery in Munich which proved to be a fantastic experience ( Thank you to Pat Bell from Janets Pantry in Rhiwbina for organising it!) before returning to Wales to teach Sugarcraft at Neath College in 1993.

I married Gavin in 1999, and made my home in North Yorkshire. We have two young boys and it is only with the full support of my family that I have been able to realise my dream of starting my own business, specialising in sugarcraft and country cake baking. My small-but-perfectly-formed studio is located close to the beautiful Walled Garden near Helmsley Castle and I exhibit cakes at local wedding fairs – when I have the time! The business is now firmly established and we are one of the main suppliers of wedding cakes in the region. My customers come from the length and breadth of the country and are very important to me. I work hard to create a cake that has a Wow! Factor and gain personal and professional satisfaction from being able to contribute to their special Celebration!

Types of Cakes, Wedding, Birthday etc..

ALL ABOUT OUR CAKES (This is the yummy bit!)

Although it sounds obvious, we cannot stress enough that the way your cake tastes is just as important as the way it looks.

All our cakes are made here at the craft workshop from the highest quality ingredients. There is a choice of:

SPONGE CAKES

Our sponge cakes range from rich, dark chocolate, to delicate lemon or a deliciously grown-up coffee & walnut. Of course, a plain sponge cake is always available!

FILLINGS

Sponge cakes can be filled with a variety of fillings. Jam and buttercream is always popular, or you might opt for tangy lemon gooey chocolate buttercream or... our temptingly yummy chocolate ganache made from the finest Belgian chocolate and rich cream.

To make the choice even more difficult for you we make our ganache in white, milk and dark chocolate AND these can be flavoured to suite your palette – from brandy through to fruity.

FRUIT CAKES

Our moist fruit cakes are made with butter, muscovado sugar, vine fruits, ground almond and the freshly grated rind and juice of orange and lemon. Once baked a generous helping of brandy is added and the cakes are wrapped and left to mature.

ICING

We can use any of three main decorative mediums on your cake, to suit you and your design. These are:

PLEASE NOTE

• Fruit cakes can be made without nuts if required.

• If you have any special dietary requirements, do let us know - we will try and accommodate everyone.

• We are happy to provide samples of cake on request so that you can taste the quality for yourself prior to committing an order. We have confidence in our cakes!

• We love a challenge! If you have a zany idea for a cake, we’ll make it for you. Please talk to us. It costs nothing and we’re only too pleased to listen and help.

• You are welcome to visit us at our studio but please call first to check we are not out delivering another lovely cake!

• Our business is based on excellent customer care. We don’t need a charter. We just believe our customers are very important. Many return time and again for another Celebration Cake. That says so much. Do read our reviews – they are our best advertisement.




Our Services
Consultation on your required cake, design, and size

We would like to say that we can make any cake you desire, and encourage you to challenge us to replicate any design or cake you may need from a football shirt to a 6 tier wedding cake.

We require a 50% deposit upon you placing your order. The balance will be due on or before delivery. We do offer a delivery service to ensure both ours and your masterpiece arrives in its best condition.
